About Me
I have been teaching music for over 20 years. In addition to teaching I have worked as a musician and sound engineer for a great number of famous bands like the Marshall Tucker Band, Levon Helm, the Indigo Girls and several others. I love bringing the skills I have learned at a professional level to my students!
My Musical Education Background
I have a BA in Music from Earlham college. I have also continued my education by completing several graduate studies, including most recently an independent study as a Harvard Reader on the Child Ballads at Harvard's Houghton Library. I have also published several books on music education, mostly on mandolin music.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I love blues and folk music, but over the course of my career have been exposed to playing a wide variety of styles including jazz, country, rock, klesmer, pop and bluegrass. I teach piano, guitar, banjo, mandolin, singing, ukulele, bouzouki and tin whistle. I also teach blues slide guitar styles.
Lesson Rates
Lessons are $25 for a half hour.
My Certifications and Awards
I am a background checked teacher. And my degree is in music from Earlham College. I have won the thumbtack professional award several years in a row for my area.
My Musical Influences
As a musician I love Elton John, Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan. I also am a big fan of John Mayer.
