She has a recent doctorate in flute performance from the University of Washington, a masters degree in flute and conducting from Southern Seminary, and a BA with honors in music composition and flute from Smith College. Stephanie is principal flute of the Skagit Symphony and has soloed with them several times, as well as performing in many area events and church services. Stephanie has also been principal flute of the Skagit Valley Chorale, Skagit Opera, and the Richmond Symphony. Stephanie often adjudicates at Solo and Ensemble festivals throughout Washington State. She has studied flute with London Philharmonic flutist Josiah Thomas, principal New York Philharmonic flutist John Wummer, Seattle Symphony piccoloist Zart Domburian Eby and UW flute professor Donna Shin.

Stephanie has an extensive piano background, particularly in the field of accompanying. She has studied piano with Anne Liva, Monica Jacuk at Smith College, and Carole Terry at University of Washington. She has played piano with the Skagit Valley Chorale, Cantabile Singers, and Skagit Valley College choirs. Stephanie has been instructing in the Skagit Valley since 1987, teaching flute and piano privately and at Skagit Valley College.
