About Me
My first name is Rogers; I am mostly self-taught of a technique to play the piano by ear using simple 'lead sheet' music. Playing piano, keyboard & guitar for a range of music from pops, bluegrass and classical has been my joy for 50+ yrs.
My Musical Education Background
My formal training has been in music theory which fits well with my professional engineering education. Having taught in TV's Scott Houston's associate teacher program, I have shown many students how to play by ear using "lead sheets" and chords
Genres and Subjects Taught
My teaching goal is to show, through teaching aids, demonstrations, and student participation how to play 'lead sheet' music with single treble clef notes and chord names to build a students foundation to play music as they want it to sound. This gives the student the tools to continue self-learning and to develop their own style. I do not teach bass clef reading; bass is played with chords. My students, that have music in their heart and soul, are usually playing real music within 6 to 10 lessons.

$25.00 per hour @ studio
negotiated for elsewhere
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
12 and older. Ability to read music is helpful as is playing another instrument, but is not necessary.
My Musical Influences
Growing up, I heard a lot of the 40's & 50's music and then playing professionally, we played the 60's, 70s', & 80's music. I enjoy playing this music as it has a well defined melody and rythem.
