About Me
I have been interested in music since I was a toddler- my very first instrument was a childrens keyboard that I would copy what I was hearing on the radio with! I have a B.A. in Music Instruction from Southern Oregon University in 2014, and currently teach music history classes with the continuing education department at FVCC. I specialize in flute, voice, and beginning to intermediate piano, but also in theory and conducting. I think each student is unique and I really enjoy teaching all ages!
My Musical Education Background
As stated in my bio, I have a B.A. in Music Instruction, and have always loved music since I was a little one. I was self-taught on piano until the 4th grade, where I picked up flute and voice. My aural skills were my strongest point until I was able to start reading music, and I was in as many music programs as I could be from childhood through my time in undergrad.

My Certifications and Awards
B.A. in Music Instruction
I won the John Philip Sousa Award when I was in high school as well as made it to state twice and lettered in music twice. I was our high school first chair for flute in band, first chair in both alto and soprano in choir, and was also awarded the title of Assistant Choir Director in high school.
My Musical Influences
There are a great many music influences in my life, my childhood was filled with 80's hair metal, 90's country, big bands, jazz, and anything I could get my hands on from other cultures and time periods. I focused heavily in Rennaisance and Romantic Era's of music while in college and high school, and was exposed to many different cultures of music while in college. In 2018 I took a trip to Eastern Europe where I spent time with music from Turkey and Macedonia.
These influences are still a big part of my life, but if you asked me about who my favorite bands and musicians are now I'd easily say Lord Huron and Hozier!
