About Me

I am a professor emerita in music  from the University of Utah, where  I taught piano performance majors and minors for over 40 years.  I have a studio in my home with two Steinway grand pianos. I also teach online.   I teach intermediate to advanced students.  My program includes theory, technique, performance training, with an emphasis on repertoire building.  I enjoy teaching very much  and I love to help students achieve their musical goals and aspirations.  I help students prepare for recitals, competitions and auditions. My studio includes students that are 11 years old all the way up  to adult students. Each student is individually taught according to their level, and skill.  Many students feel a lack of confidence when playing the piano and I work very hard to help them improve in that area.  For more info, please visit my website at (contact me).  You can also google me!

My Musical Education Background

As a concert pianist, I have performed twice at Carnegie Hall, Steinway Hall in New York City, Merkin Hall in New York City, at the World Piano Conference in Serbia, and performed in  Japan, Viet Nam, Korea, Thailand, Okinawa, Taiwan, and throughout the United States.  I have won gold medals in the United States Classical International Piano Competition, the prestigious New England Conservatory International Chamber Music Ensemble competition, the Web Concert Hall International Competition.  I received the Best of State award, and was awarded the Utah Arts Council Performing artist tour. I have performed at numerous conventions and spotlight concerts throughtout the world. Please visit (contact me), popular piano (contact me) and Brillante Piano Duo on youtube.

My education includes the University of Utah and the University of Michigan, with extensive training under Gladys Gladstone, Theodore Lettvin, John Perry, David Burge, Leonard Shure, John Browning and Vladimir Ashkenazy.  I have taught music at the University of Utah for over 40 years, where I was nominated for the distinguished teaching award.  I am a certified teacher of the Music Teachers National Association, a member of ACME, a distinguished association of Artists, Composers, Musicologists, and Educators who are widely known and acclaimed in their fields of musical endeavor internationally, and a member of Mu Phi Epsilon International Music Fraternity.

My students have won and placed in numerous competitions and have received scholarships and awards.  Many have been accepted at nationally acclaimed universities and conservatories.  I teach young students to adults.

Genres and Subjects Taught

I teach theory weekly, and I have technique regimen that builds strong, fast fingers. I teach mostly classical repertoire.  I work with students on confidence building and I prepare students for competitions, recitals and auditions.  I do not require my students to perform, but I encourage them to share their music as much as possible. My program includes a strong emphasis on repertoire.  I teach musicallity, interpretation and technical agility, awareness of musical style and performance skills.

Lesson Rates

The monthly tuition fee is $350 and  lessons are an hour long.  I do teach lessons every other week ($180 per month), but I strongly encourage students to take weekly lessons, thereby greatly increasing their progress.  I teach in my studio and also online.
