About Me
I've been playing the guitar for twenty-eight years now, and studied with a variety of teachers including Bob Ferguson and Michael Harris. I began teaching guitar lessons when I was a sophomore at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. I graduated with a B.A. in Communications and then moved to the Boston area in 1997 and began working full time as a guitar teacher within a few months. Since then, I've also played in a variety of original and cover bands, written and recorded a number of songs of my own, and also done recordings for other local musicians' projects.
For the past 5 years I've been playing in a cover band called Element 78. We play out every weekend, sometimes 4 times a week, and play at private parties, corporate events, nightclubs, weddings, etc. You can check us out at (contact me) or on facebook - Element78Boston.
My Musical Education Background
I studied with Bob Ferguson, a classical guitarist, for four years, and he taught me until I moved away from Fort Wayne. You can find out more information about him at (contact me)/. After moving to Dayton, Ohio, I studied with a couple of different teachers learning jazz, blues, and rock, and then studied with Michael Harris (check out (contact me)/) for a couple of years before starting to work as an instructor on my own at Guitar Attention Center in Springfield, Ohio.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I teach acoustic and electric guitar in the styles of rock, blues, folk, blues fingerstyle, beginning jazz and classical guitar, and how to sing and play. I teach students how to read standard notation, guitar tablature, and chord charts, and also music theory. I can also help students out with learning how to record their guitar and set up their amp for live shows.
