About Me

I have been studying and performing music for the more than 30 years and hope to pass my knowledge to the world. I started playing the violin in the fourth grade at the age of ten, then on to the alto saxophone at age eleven and my love of music grew from there. While playing classical music in the Ohio County school system in Wheeling, WV, I was enveloped by other styles of music like country, bluegrass, and jazz. Once I heard the ringing of the fiddle I knew I found my first true love. I started seeking out fiddle books and people to play with while continuing my classical studies. Throughout the rest of my stay in Wheeling I played in jazz bands, concert bands, marching bands, sax ensembles/quartets, String orchestras, quartets, small ensembles, and have played in the smallest of venues clear up to the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia by the time I was 17 years old. I began teaching privately at the age of 16, but had to stop when I moved to Morgantown to attend the College of Creative Arts at West Virginia University. Within three years of my arrival I began playing fiddle for The Hillbilly Gypsies and during that time we had been able to share the stage with some of the greatest bluegrass musicians on this earth. We became a very successful group over the years not only by playing at DelFest, Poppy Mountain Blugrass Festival, and many other venues, we have also had the opportunity to play on PBS's Songs of the Mountain, WV's Moutain Stage, and various others. We are now working on our third studio album and are hoping to have it out by the end of the year. While doing all of this I began teaching privately again and am falling in love with teaching all over again. I now have over 40 students currently and am seeking as many students that I can from ages 6 and up. If you or anyone you know in the Morgantown, WV area or willing to learn online are interested please contact me via e-mail.
