About Me
My goal is to instill a sense of music appreciation, while at the same time teaching about the technical aspects of music and having realistic goals for my students. I feel qualified to teach music and to do so in a way that each student feels special, valued and encouraged.
My Musical Education Background
I was introduced to music early on by my parents. Being classically trained on the piano Istarted playing and writing songs at the tender age of seven. As a teenager in high school, I performed recitals and played in rock bands, and picked up the guitar and drums to broaden my music repertoire. Searching for a new music direction and creative environment I relocated to New York City in 1992 to major in music at Hunter College. Living in NYC I began performing live and became a studio session musician in the process I developed songwriting and arranging skills as well as my own composing style. As I advanced musically I began teaching piano, guitar and music theory at the Academy of Music. Teaching the basics of piano really helped me develop a love for exploring and learning music with students . Gradually my taste in music evolved into different styles of music such as Jazz, Blues, Electronic and World Music. Without a doubt, my love for great music as well as my musical background shapes the music I compose, perform and teach.
