About Me
Hi there! I'm Amanda! I am passionate about music and love nothing more than to share that passion with others. I've worked as a nanny in the past and have always loved interacting with children. Teaching violin gives me the oppertunity to combine my interests and give me a job that I truly enjoy. I would love to welcome you as a student!
My Musical Education Background
I grew up in a musical family and at the age of 7 I had my very first performance as a violinist. I proudly held up my tiny violin and plucked a couple of open strings on a stage so grand, that it made me look like just a tiny speck. In my first five years I studied under Everett Goodwin with the Suzuki method. Learning by ear had proved very helpful in my playing and I am grateful for what I gained from the Suzuki method. At the age of 12 I switched to traditional and studied under Nori Kalman, a sweet lady from Romania who would always amaze me by her knowledge of musical history. Each time we pulled out a new piece she would share about the composer and what was going on in the world when this piece was written. I thrived under her teaching and gained even more of a love for music. Now today I am studying under Yuliya Smead, the Violin Professor at both Lawerence University in Appleton and UW Oshkosh. She has agreed to guide me through this journey of beginning violin teaching and will be training me as I begin taking on students.
