About Me

Tenor Steven Tompkins recently made his Carnegie Hall debut stepping in last minute as Don Ottavio in Mozart's Don Giovanni.  Mr. Tompkins is distinguishing himself as a versatile leading man singing roles from Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème to Argento’s The Man With A Paint Box in Postcard from Morocco. Known for his clear ringing top, OperaNews described his voice as possessing an “All-American sweetness... that blossomed heroically in the role’s highest phrases.” The Naples (Florida) Sun Times describes his voice as “fused with power and passion” and predicts, “The young tenor, so handsome, will have a great career ahead.”  The Ann Arbor News simply calls his voice “outstanding.”

Are you interested in exploring Voice or Piano? I believe that each student is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow. It is my desire as a educator to help students meet their fullest potential by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. Together we will set long-term and short-term goals while enjoying all that music can bring. I hold an Artist Diploma and Masters of Music from The University of Michigan on full scholarship and a Bachelor of Science in Vocal Performance from Roberts Wesleyan College. Having performed both state-side and internationally I have the artistic depth and knowledge to help you achieve your goals.

I teach Monday thru Friday at my home studio in Hauppauge. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
