About Me

My name is Anna Smira. I am from Russia, and have a Masters in Piano. I teach piano/ theory to all ages and levels. Please visit my website, for more information on me, my rates, the classes that I offer, and contact information.

Bachelors Degree Piano- Millsaps College Masters Degree -Piano- University of Mississippi

Genres and Subjects Taught

Piano, Theory, Music History, Composition, and General Music to pre-school age children. I also do accompanying and play for weddings and special occasions.

Lesson Rates

Half hour lessons-$75 a month (4 or 5 half hour lessons a month, depending on the number of weeks of the month) Forty Five minute lessons-$115 a month Hour lessons- $150 a month For further information, please visit the website listed previously.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught

I currently offer lessons to all ages and levels. I teach piano to any child aged 5 rhru Adult. I offer a special program to children between the ages of 3-5, based on the Little Mozart series, that will help build the foundation for private lessons I can also teach general music to toddlers 2 and a half thru 4. However, with this option, I focus more on the general music, rather than a specific instrument, due to the age of the child.

My Certifications and Awards

Outstanding Performer award at the University of Mississippi, while I was obtaining a Masters degree. I was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon during my undergraduate studies at Millsaps College. Member of National Music Teachers Association, and its state and local affiliates. Also, I am a member of Federation of Music Clubs.

My Musical Influences

My mother and Olga Igorevna (my first two piano teachers), Mrs. Sandra Polanski (teacher at APAC performing arts school), Dr. Elizabeth Moak (undergraduate professor), Dr. Tim Coker (Theory teacher/summer piano instructor at Millsaps), Dr. Ian Hominick (professor at University of Mississippi), and Dr. Mark Zeltzer (an artist in residence, with whom I studied for a year). Other influences include: Dr. LYnn Raley (music history professor, Dr. Cheryl Coker (for whom I accompanied at Millsaps), and all the other wonderful teachers who shaped me into who I am today.
