About Me

My name is Anna Smira. I am from Russia, and have a Masters in Piano. I teach piano/ theory to ages 4 and up and can work with all levels of ability. I am a member of Music Teachers National Association. My philosophy is that music education is an investment. My goal is to instill the love of music into my students!

My Musical Education Background

Bachelors Degree Piano- Millsaps College Masters Degree -Piano- University of Mississippi

Genres and Subjects Taught

Piano, Theory, and Music History. I also do accompanying and play for weddings and special occasions. I am currently also a pianist at a church.

Lesson Rates

$50 Registration Fee to secure your spot. The following rates will take effect on August Tuition 2023. Half hour lessons-$95 a month (4 or 5 half hour lessons a month, depending on the number of weeks of the month) Forty Five minute lessons-$140 a month Hour lessons- $180 a month

Ages / Skill Levels Taught

I currently offer lessons to all ages and levels. I teach piano to any child aged 4 to Adult.

My Certifications and Awards

Outstanding Performer award at the University of Mississippi, while I was obtaining a Masters degree. I was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon during my undergraduate studies at Millsaps College. Member of National Music Teachers Association, and its state and local affiliates. Also, I am a member of Federation of Music Clubs.

My Musical Influences

My mother and Olga Igorevna (my first two piano teachers), Mrs. Sandra Polanski (teacher at APAC performing arts school), Dr. Elizabeth Moak (undergraduate professor), Dr. Tim Coker (Theory teacher/summer piano instructor at Millsaps), Dr. Ian Hominick (professor at University of Mississippi), and Dr. Mark Zeltzer (an artist in residence, with whom I studied for a year). Other influences include: Dr. Lynn Raley (music history professor, Dr. Cheryl Coker (for whom I accompanied at Millsaps), and all the other wonderful teachers who shaped me into who I am today.
