My Musical Education Background

BM summa cum laude, Berklee College of Music (Boston, Massachusetts)

Piano pedagogy studies, New England Conservatory (Boston, Massachusetts)

Classical piano studies with Randall Hodgkinson (New England Conservatory), David Deveau (M.I.T.)

Jazz piano studies with Jeff Covell (Berklee College of Music) and Eyran Katsenelenbogen (New England Conservatory)

Genres and Subjects Taught

Classical piano - beginner to early advanced level (CM Levels Preparatory - 10; ABRSM Levels Preparatory - 8)

Jazz piano - beginner to intermediate level.

Improvisation - ear-training, music theory, playing from leadsheets/fake books, playing in church worship services.

Lesson Rates

I currently teach in-home lessons only.  The following rates are for in-home lessons:

$35 per 30-minute lesson

$52 per 45-minute lesson

$67 per 1-hour lesson

Please note that the following conditions must be met for in-home lessons:

1. The student's home is within 5 miles of travel from my location in La Palma (zip code 90623)

2. An acoustic piano is required.

Ages / Skill Levels Taught

Primarily children age 6 - 18.  Some adults students.

My Certifications and Awards

Member of MTAC (Music Teachers Assoc. of California), MTNA (Music Teachers National Association).  Prior member of NEPTA (New England Piano Teachers Association), MMTA (Massachusetts Music Teachers Association).

ASCAP/Plus Award in Jazz/Pop Music (2004), Television Academy (Emmy Foundation) Music Intern Award (2002), Berklee Achievement Scholarship (1998 - 2001).

Music ministry at Park Street Church, Boston, MA (2008 - 16) and Westgate Church, Weston, MA (2015 - 16) - performed worship music as a pianist and in ensembles.  Solo recitals in Boston and Los Angeles.  Concerto Debut with the MIT Symphony Orchestra (1989).

Classical: Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin.

Jazz: Bill Evans, Art Tatum.

Pop: ABBA, Alan Parson's Project.

Film Composers: John Williams, Ennio Morricone.
