About Me

I am an experienced piano teacher, having taught lessons for 25 years in my home
I have a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance graduating Magna Cum Laude.
I am a member of Tidewater Music Teachers Forum, Virginia Music Teachers Association, Music Teachers National Association, National Federation of Music Clubs, and National Guild of Organists.

I teach lessons to students of all ages. Most of my students are school age. How ever adults are very welcome.

I encourage all of my students to participate in local music auditions ,competitions and recitals. I believe every person is born with rhythmic and music skills waiting to be developed. Students feel very accomplished when they learn a piece to play for judging. Students receive certificates or trophies or monetary rewards for participation. I also have yearly recitals.

I put great emphasis on how to learn music: Note reading, sight reading, theory, technique, etc.

My Musical Education Background

My Music Education background includes 2 years as a piano education major at Ball State University, and a Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Old Dominion University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Also extensive study in organ from Dr. James Kosnik at Old Dominion University

Keyboard instruction in piano and organ.
Theory instruction
Church music
Main interest is in classical keyboard music for piano and organ.
All levels of music taught - Beginner through advanced.

Lesson Rates

$75.00 monthly for 30 min. lesson

$90.00 monthly for 45 min. lesson

$100.00 monthly for 60 min. lesson


All tuition is due monthly the first week
.
Tuition is the same regardless of number of weeks of lessons per month.

Piano calendar is 40 weeks of lessons from September through June.

Only vacations are 2 weeks at Christmas and 1 week Public School Spring Break.

Summer lessons are taught on a weekly fee during July and August.

Participant in 5 Masterclasses given by prominent organists in the USA.
Guest lecturer for TMTF meetings.

My Musical Influences

I was influenced by several of my piano and organ instructors. I enjoyed music so much that I practiced without be reminded. I liked to be challenged and always selected very challenging music to learn.

Church music has always been an important in developing my skills.

I continue to enjoy being challenged. I have continued with organ studies as an adult.
