About the Creator

Ruth Searle is a classically trained pianist with over 15 years of playing experience.  Though she considers herself mainly a classical pianist, she also has training in Jazz, Blues, Rock, Funk and Gospel music.  She has received multiple awards for composition and is a great all around piano player and educator.

Skill Level

Rocket Piano is best suited for beginners, intermediate and advanced players.  Our staff does not feel this program is best suited for professional players.  If you are a professional and are looking for even more advanced studies, we suggest you look at Learn and Master Piano.  We also feel this program is not a great fit for young children (under 8 years old).  The best fit we've found for young students is Piano Wizard.

We were most impressed with Rocket Piano's email support line which handles individual questions regarding learning piano.  Some may prefer this approach as it's almost like receiving personal lessons.  Given that a private piano teacher can cost $40-$60+ per hour, this is a good deal to receive unlimited support given the price of the package.

The LessonRating Conclusion

Overall, we've found the Rocket Piano program to be one of our favorites.  The program teaches with powerful tools including video, audio tracks, books, and software. 

The videos are well produced with easy to follow step-by-step instructions.  This is a nice feature when you need to see someone do something in order to learn it.  Plus you can start and stop as needed.

The audio play along tracks are well produced and give you the sensation on playing along with a live band.  Any teacher will tell you that playing with a live band, track or metronome will greatly increase your timing and natural feel.

The books offered by Rocket Piano are extensive and cover a wide variety of topics.  They are easy to follow with notated pictures, musical excerpts, and helpful tips for practicing.

The software is perhaps the greatest feature that sets Rocket Piano apart.  We especially like the ear training software.  These games make it fun for you or your kids to learn piano music.  They are also easy to use and can be downloaded instantly.

The last benefit of Rocket Piano is that is comes with unlimited lifetime updates.  Its authors are constantly adding new material that you will have access to.
