Piano By Pattern was created by Scott Jordan.  Unfortunately, we don't know a lot about his professional experience other than he has been playing for 15 years.  This is not to say that you have to be world famous to have a good teaching program but he does not reveal too much more about his professional playing or teaching background.

First we should discuss what we feel are the strengths of the Piano By Pattern course:

The instructional videos offered in the course we feel are very useful and easy to use.  Visual learning is made easier by the fact that the screen includes a keyboard with keys that light up when certain chords are pressed.  By pausing the video, you can easily see what notes are played to create the sound heard.  Learning chords and scales is an important skill for beginners and so this program does a good job of addressing these basic techniques.  Also important to note, these videos can be downloaded to your computer so you do not have to be connected to the internet to view them. 

The technique the program is based on called "Secret Patterns" which found to definitely make learning fast and fun.  The methods used are not entirely revolutionary, however they are useful in learning the basic concepts needed to move to an advanced piano player.
