Music Theory, Piano
Where are Lessons Offered
In Teacher Studio
I have been teaching music through piano for more than thirty years. My goal is to inspire each student with a love of music that will last a lifetime. The more they know about the music they are playing (knowledge obtained through the study of theory) the more meaningful it becomes. As a result of my membership in the Illinois State Music Teachers Association I am able to offer, to those who want them, many performance opportunities such as recitals and festivals. All of my students participate in the statewide Achievement in Music program. This program ,covering all aspects of theory and performance, offers students goals to work for outside of a competition atmosphere. Also, parents will have a record of year to year progress.
My Musical Education Background
I have studied with Edwin Hughes in New York, Antoinette Melignani (Royal College of Music London)in Washington D.C., and both Maestro Pietro Scarpini and Maestro Paolo Rio Nardi of the Conservatorio Luigi Cherubini in Florence, Italy. I received a Masters Degree in Performance and have done post-graduate work in Pedagogy.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I teach classical piano with a little bit of jazz included.
My lesson rate is $27.00 per half hour. Charges for longer lessons (45/60 min.) are discounted 10%.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
I teach young students from age 6 through high school. I also teach adults.
My Certifications and Awards
I graduated from college with honors and received a scholarship to study in Florence. I have Professional Certification from the Music Teachers National Association.

My teachers have been the greatest influence on my musical life. I include here the great artists I have been privileged to hear in concert and in Master Classes.
