About Me
No matter where my life has taken me, I have always had one constant passion and desire for music. I started playing the piano when I was 4 years old. In middle school, I began playing for church services and quickly became the Assistant Pianist, playing every week and accompanying for choir and school productions. In college, I was part of Mu Phi Epsilon, a music honor's society, and continued performing and accompanying with fellow students, soloists, ensembles, and choirs.
I began my teaching career during my last year of college at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia. I maintained a Private Studio and also taught at a local Music & Arts store while finishing my music studies. I fell in love with piano pedagogy and have been teaching ever since!
My teaching philosophy combines fostering a love of music while focusing on theory and technique. I always strive to work towards specific fun pieces my students pick out while still maintaining a standard curriculum. I find this balance of special music and regular lesson work helps the students achieve their academic goals without growing bored of the music they're practicing every week.
