About Me
At Inplay School of Music, we help musicians of all levels discover and develop their unique voice. Whether it’s piano, guitar, or voice, our focus is on making music meaningful and enjoyable by emphasizing expression over perfect technique. We create a welcoming, supportive space where students feel inspired to explore, grow, and express themselves with confidence.
My Musical Education Background
Our instructors bring more than talent to the classroom. Each holds or is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA)—the highest academic degree in the field. This ensures students benefit from deep musical expertise and evidence-based teaching practices, no matter their age or skill level.
Trust and safety are essential. Every instructor has passed a comprehensive background check, giving families and adult learners complete peace of mind.
Genres and Subjects Taught
At Inplay School of Music, we teach what matters to the student — not just what’s in the method book. Some students come in wanting to play Beethoven. Others want to sing Adele. Some just want to understand what chords are and how to play by ear. We support all of that.
We offer:
- Classical piano and voice, with a strong foundation in technique and musicianship
- Functional skills like sight-reading, chord playing, harmonizing, and how to accompany yourself or others
We don’t follow a strict formula — we meet each student where they are and grow from there!
Lesson Rates
We try to keep things straightforward. We don’t lock families into long contracts or pressure them into giant packages. You pay per month, based on how many lessons you take. Rates depend on the teacher and lesson length.
Generally:
-
30 min: $35–$40
-
45 min: $50–$60
-
60 min: $65–$80
Sibling discounts and flexible payment methods are available (Zelle, check, card).
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
We teach students as young as 4, and we don’t have an upper age limit. Seriously — we’ve taught both kindergartners and grandparents in the same week.
-
Young beginners (ages 4–6): playful, movement-based lessons that teach real skills without pressure
-
Elementary/middle school students: structured but flexible programs that build confidence and independence
-
Teens: whether they’re serious about music or just need a creative outlet, we keep lessons relevant and motivating
-
Adults: some come to revisit a childhood passion, others want to start from scratch. We tailor lessons to your pace and goals.
-
Advanced students: if you're preparing for auditions, exams, competitions, or college entrance, we’ve got the training and experience to support you!
My Certifications and Awards
We’re not just musicians — we’re educators. That matters.
Some of our team’s credentials include:
-
Doctoral degrees in piano performance (University of North Texas, TCU)
-
Artist Diplomas and international concert experience across Russia, Europe, and the U.S.
-
University-level teaching fellowships in group piano, applied instruction, and music theory
-
Competition prizes in solo piano, accompaniment, and chamber music
-
Experience preparing students for college auditions, and festival performances
But beyond the credentials, we’re proudest of this: our students stick with it and grow. Many stay with us for years.
My Musical Influences
Every teacher at Inplay School of Music brings their own influences. We're not all the same — and we think that’s a good thing.
For example:
-
One of us grew up steeped in Rachmaninoff and Scriabin, trained in Russia, and still performs regularly
-
Another trained in classical voice and now also teaches musical theatre and jazz
-
We admire the architecture of Bach as much as the freedom of Oscar Peterson
-
Some of us love working with students who want to blend pop and classical
-
Others find joy in helping students explore the emotional world of composers like Chopin or Brahms
We don’t try to turn students into little versions of ourselves. We help them become the musicians they want to be — with curiosity, skill, and expression.
