About Me
Ms. Hsiao came to the U.S when she was 8 years old. She started piano lesson shortly after. She participated in Spring Festivals and Piano Guild growing up. Her other musical interests includes composing, playing the cello and the guitar and violin for fun.
My Musical Education Background
Music Degree from George Mason University. Fifteen years of piano teaching experience with various age groups. Served as judge for National Piano Guild Auditions and The NFMC. Teaches various genre of music to suit the needs and interests of each individual. Teaches students rhythmic training, note reading, hand technique, sight-reading, memorizing skills from beginners through advanced levels. Prepares high school students in Advance Placement music theory courses materials. Students have received 15 pt. and 30 pt. trophies from NVMTA. Hosts student recitals at various local nursing homes. Teaches students how to compose their own music related to their favorite topic or story.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Subject/ genres being taught: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, Contemporary, Jazz music, improvising, composing, beginning music theory through collegiate level, relative and perfect pitch ear training, sight reading, techniques of piano playing, duet playing, memorizing techniques, good performance habits, good practice habits. Rewards are given to those who do their practice and homework regularly.
Two recitals are hosted per year to showcase each student's hardwork and achievements.
