Green Willow Academy provides the finest piano lessons to students of all ages in the Upstate. Our music teachers are credentialed, experienced musicians and pedagogues, offering individualized instruction that meets the needs of each student. We cultivate a passion for music in every student by developing successful, independent musicians.
Steven Brundage founded Green Willow Academy in 2009. He holds a masters degree in piano pedagogy and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of South Carolina.
His writing is featured in national publications such as Clavier Companion and The American Music Teacher Journal on topics such as pedagogy, music business, and performance anxiety. He is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and has presented on the local, state, and national levels.
Rachel Siglin, co-founder of GWA, began playing the piano as an eight year old and knew by high school that she wanted to be a piano teacher. Rachel holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in piano pedagogy and has maintained an active studio since 2007.
She is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the National Federation of Music Clubs as well as a regular attendee at the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy. She enjoys adapting instructional methods and music choices to meet individual student needs.
Rachel is actively involved in music at her church and when she's not teaching, she enjoys international travel, independent coffee shops, and popular foodie spots.

Genres and Subjects Taught
Steven and Rachel teach classical, jazz, sacred, improvisation, and popular styles. We believe in teaching students of all ages a method of comprehensive musicianship which includes a classical foundation, exciting jazz/popular repertoire, high doses of theory, creative work in composition, and an prevalent emphasis on technique.
Private Lesson Program
This lesson program is designed for piano students of all ages as they explore beginning through early-advanced repertoire. Lessons are offered in weekly thirty-minute segments.
Master's Circle Lesson Program
This program is designed for serious student-pianists at the late intermediate through advanced levels. Students pursue a concentrated, comprehensive program that involves major repertoire, theory, and performance skill. Lessons are offered weekly in forty-five and sixty-minute segments.
Twice each year, GWA students perform for family and friends at annual recitals. Christmas and spring recitals are held every December and May, respectively.
GWA students participate in National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals each February. Students have the opportunity to refine performance skills, receive comments from a judge, and perform at an honors recital for winning students.
