About Me
I am passionate about the piano. I believe anyone can learn to play and have fun in the process. I am more of a laid back kind of guy who will expect you to practice, but I also understand that we live in a world with other demands and responsibilities. Music should be a stress relief and should not add stress to our lives so I promise to make your piano lessons an enjoyable experience. You'll be surprised how quickly you can learn to play some of your favorite tunes!

My Musical Education Background
I began playing piano on my own when a friend of my grandmother left me her piano in her will. I was a teenager and had been playing the brass instruments but I felt a special bond to those piano keys!
I took private lessons in high school with an organist where I learned classical music and then took lessons with my high school band teacher who taught me jazz and pop.
I attended West Chester University in 1983 where I took more piano instruction and began teaching privately in 1989. I have been a Children's and Youth Minister for 20 years in addition to teaching piano.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I will cater the lessons to your personal tastes. Early on, it is important to learn a variety of different styles of music, especially if you are a child But the older and more experienced you are, the more you should have a say in what kind of music you want to learn. Whether it be classical, jazz, gospel, or pop, I will work with you so you are playing songs you enjoy.
Lesson Rates
$20.00 per half hour in my home. The first lesson will be $30.00 and will be 45 minutes long because of introductory work. Some people prefer 45 minute lessons because 30 minutes just goes too fast. 30 minutes works well with younger children. A small additional fee could be added if the student needs to have lessons taught in their own home. At the same time, discounts can be given to siblings or other family members under the same roof!

My Musical Influences
Early on I was influenced by Schroeder on the cartoon show Charlie Brown. After that, it was everyone from Billy Joel, Barry Banilow, Yanni, to Count Basie, Andrew Lyoyd Weber, Lang Lang and Casting Crowns.
