My Certifications and Awards

As an award-winning violin soloist and conductor, Dr. Rachel Friedman has travelled the world for music! She has conducted the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic in the Czech Republic, the Estonian National Youth Orchestra, the Missouri Symphony Orchestra, the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra, and many others.

My Musical Influences

My major violin and conducting mentors are Messrs. Mark Zelmanovich, Victor Yampolsky, Miro Hristov, and James Fellenbaum, all of whom studied with the great Russian masters of the 20th century. In the Music Education field, my major influences are Drs. Alexander Jimenez, Clifford Madson, and Kasia Bugaj at Florida State University, where I recently received my PhD in Music Education. Both of my parents are wonderful professional musicians in their own right - my Mother being a Principal Oboist and Oboe Professor and my Father a french horn and piano player. My parents always taught me through their example to make music fun, beautiful, and lighthearted, and I continue that spirit of "play" in my teaching today.
