About Me
New to the Sunset/Chico/Bowie area, having moved here from the Weatherford, area. I've been a church pianist/keyboardist for over 40 years. I currently attend thr Free Will Baptist church in Bowie, TX, where I play the keyboard for praise and worship service. Currently I give lessons in the student's home.
My Musical Education Background
Began lessons when I was 9 years old, studying under a number of talented teachers who understood my desire to learn to play for church, and focused my studies in that area. At the age of 15, I became the pianist at the Cadillac Assembly of God church, in Cadillac, Michigan, until I left at 18 to attend North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN, where I majored in music. Because all opportunities to play and perform are educational, I've been privileged to play for a number of venues: In high school I was the accompanist for the Junior High choirs, and played accompaniment for several vocal soloists in statewide talent competitions. I also competed in local, district, area and statewide talent competitions in both Michigan and Indiana as a young teen. While attending North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN, I majored in music, studying music theory, composition, and performance. Also, during college I accompanied the choir, under the direction of Dr. Robert Cilke; also playing accompaniment to a small choral group that traveled and performed around the area. Thru the years, I've played in both large and small churches, accompanied choirs, soloists, duets, trios and quartets as they performed and ministered. I've also filled the position of Director of Music and Music Minister at a number of churches from Michigan to Texas.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Experienced teacher, specializing in teaching students who want to play for church. Subjects covered include standard church hymns and contemporary praise songs, sighting reading music, chording, playing by ear, and playing with other musicians. Beginning students receive instruction in reading music, keyboard basics, timing, fingering, chords, and basic music theory. All ages welcome

Beginner students of all ages. Intermediate to advanced students who wish to focus on chording, playing by ear and learning to play for church.
