About Me
Claire Ritter is a master pianist-composer teaching Classical, Jazz, Songwriting & Improvisation in the South Charlotte, Matthews, Weddington areas of NC with specialties in Jazz composition and creativity. Claire is the recipient of the prestigious NC Arts Council Jazz Composer Fellowship as well as 2 Charlotte Mecklenburg Arts and Science Regional Artist Grants. As a recording artist, Claire Ritter's discography includes 11 CDs as a leader, as well as multiple recordings of her composition by acclaimed artists on European record labels. My Musical Education Background
Queens University of Charlotte - BA in Classical piano
Duke University - private study with Jazz legend Mary Lou Williams
New England Conservatory in Boston - extensive graduate studies in composition and improvisation with the Department of Contemporary Improvisation and MacArther Grant Genius Fellowship composer/pianist Ran Blake.
Worked on the Faculty, New England Conservatory of Music in 1996.
