I love playing and singing. Children find that they have fun and become players in the music field quickly. Parents appreciate music in the house and sometimes want to take lessons, too.
My Musical Education Background
When I was six years old I began piano lessons at St. Gabriel's Catholic parish in St. Louis, Missouri. Sister Matthias was kind but firm and gave me a base in the classical style of music. At age fourteen I began organ lessons with her and continued through high school. I began Music Theory classes in high school. This included studying, writing, and playing the basics of music harmony through the examples of Johann Sebastian Bach. Participating in the school and church choirs was always a favorite.
Concordia Lutheran College in River Forest, Illinois, was a rich and musical experience as well. Classical church musicians, composers, and teachers included Paul Bunjes, Thomas Gieschen, Herbert Gotsch, Carl Schalk, Carl Waldschmidt, and Michael Zeddes. I studied, organ, voice, music theory, music education, choral music, and conducting.
Genres and Subjects Taught
Always interested in the voice and performance in church I took this to my first teaching job. I was the Music Director for the church and school in Richton Park, Illinois for seven years. Leading church choirs, playing for church on Sundays, and teaching classroom music were my responsibilities. I loved involving students and adults in the worship services, concerts, and musicals.
Teaching classroom music, directing choirs, and private instruction in piano, keyboard, and organ lessons are all part of my experiences and passions.
Piano or keyboard private lessons begin at $30 per half hour lesson.
Organ lessons are $35 for a 40-minute lesson.
If I travel to your home there is a travel cost attached to the lesson.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
Beginning students have no age requirement. For organ lessons, students must be able to reach the pedals.
My Certifications and Awards
It is with pleasure that I serve the musical community through the talents in which God gave me. Playing the church organ and accompanying the choir and soloists is a blessing and I enjoy it immensely. It is my duty to use these gifts in a way in which expands a student's love and knowledge of music.
My Musical Influences
While classical and sacred music has been the primary influence on my performance, I include other styles as well to the student repertoire. Jazz, popular, ethereal, and a student's original compositions to the mix. Music composers are studied and music theory and voice are also part of the session.
Timothy's mother said, "Christine is fun! She brings her cheerful personality to each lesson in our home and has been a blessing to our boys as they learn to play the piano."
