Where are Lessons Offered
In Teacher Studio
I truly enjoy teaching students of all ages and all levels. Every person should experience the joy and the power of making music themselves - it is a lifelong skill that can never be taken away. My professional experience includes teaching music for over 20 years in a variety of capacities. I am currently accepting students from age 5 through adult. In 2011, my family moved to Gurnee from Palatine, where I had a home studio for 10 years. I am an experienced public school general/vocal music teacher for over 20 years, which has helped me to share music with students of all ages and their families, and then watch them learn and grow as music continues to always be a part of their lives. A new piano studio has been established in my home in Gurnee, to continue the joy of making music and creating art that will be enjoyed for a lifetime.

My Musical Education Background
Bachelor's degree in Music Education (B.M.E.)
Dominican University, River Forest, IL - May, 1979
Master's degree in Music Education (M.M.E.)
DePaul University, Chicago, IL - August 1999.
I have been a full-time public school general/vocal music teacher for over 20 years. Teaching drama is also part of the curriculum. In addition, I have been a performing church musician (vocal, organ, piano) for 45 years. Students of all ages have been learning in my piano studio for more than a decade.
Genres and Subjects Taught
All genres of piano music are taught in my studio. A good general, broad base of music education and theory are taught from Day 1. A student's interests and desires in learning specific styles and pieces of music are always considered once a firm knowledge base has been established, and goals for each individual student are strongly encouraged.
Weekly private lessons are conducted in my Gurnee home at a rate of $20.00 per half-hour lesson.
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
My personal philosophy is to begin musical learning as early as possible. Children as young as 5 years old are most welcome to begin piano lessons and making music. However, children and adults of ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS are encouraged to inquire about creating and making music in my piano studio.
My Certifications and Awards
Illinois State Teaching Certificate, K-12, Music Education, 1979-Present
Alan Mann Excellence in Teaching Award, 2010
My Musical Influences
I have many musical influences, from Mozart to Steely Dan, to the Beatles, Arthur Rubinstein, Alfred Brendel, Chopin, James Taylor and Leonard Bernstein. I would describe my musical influences as eclectic and varied, all contributing to my unique and individualized teaching style.
