About Me
I am dedicated to teaching others about the joy of playing the piano. I teach a program called Simply Music. I am excited to share this fantastic program with my students.
I have taught piano off and on for the past 10 years, always knowing that I really wanted to teach, but never feeling like I had the right tools. I had explored different methods but always felt that there was something missing. When I found the Simply Music program, I knew I had found what I had been looking for.
My Musical Education Background
I took piano lessons for all of my years growing up. When I went to college I was able to take lessons from a professor and also take wonderful music classes. I was fortunate to have the experience in college of playing the piano in many different settings, including church organist and choir accompanist, solo performance, accompaniment to many soloists and small ensembles of differing genres, choir accompanist, member of an orchestra, and member of a band playing for a musical. In my teaching, and in the Simply Music program which I teach, there is an emphasis on gaining a knowledge of music so that a student is prepared to play in many different ways and settings. I teach classical music, but it is balanced with other genres as well as accompaniment, arrangements, composition, and improvisation. When a student knows the building blocks of music so that they can play these things, the piano can become a companion to them, hopefully for the rest of their lives.

I teach children starting with age 7. I also teach adults.
My schedule is currently full, but you are welcome to call or email and I will place you on my waiting list. I will be starting new classes in the fall.
