About Me

I have taught piano/keyboard lessons for over 18 years to children ages 5 and up and to adults of all ages. I aspire to inspire others of the joy of learning to play the piano.  Learning to play piano should be fun as well as educational.  I like to have variety in lessons and work to meet the needs of each individual at their pace of learning and abilities.  I love teaching others what has brought me so much joy my whole life.

My Musical Education Background

I started playing piano at age 7 and had 8 years of method classical training. I have a BA from Columbia College in Music and Arts Administration. I have been an accompanist for several groups including various college and high school choral groups and vocalists.

Genres and Subjects Taught

I love teaching children and adults of all ages in a positive, fun atmosphere. I teach all styles of music and let the student pick out songs they want to learn along with method books. Lessons include harmonization, ear training, transposing, sight reading and improvisation for a well rounded music education. Piano lessons cover all of the basics of music theory, so it is a great starting place for any music education and for other instruments. I believe in positive encouragement, patience and a supportive environment to give each student confidence as they learn. Also, I specialize in helping students that are especially nervous about taking lessons. The studio I taught at often recommended me for students that were afraid, more sensitive or shy with lessons. I want to inspire and bring out each student's best and aspire to bring to them the love and joy of playing the piano. Note: Adult students can choose if they just want to learn certain songs, format of the lesson, etc.

Lesson Rates

Lesson Rates: First lesson is Free! $20.00 for a 30 minute lesson $28.00 for a 45 minute lesson $40.00 for a 60 minute lesson All lessons are conducted online.

My Musical Influences

I love music and like to teach all styles including classical, pop, country, and more. When I started taking piano lessons at the age of seven, I was introduced to a wide range of music. I was very influenced by Billy Joel, Beethoven, Bon Jovi, Chopin, Elvis, Sting, old standards, and many others. It gave me an appreciation of many different styles of music and I like a lot of pop/rock music old and new.
