About Me
I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Piano (MTNA). I have been teaching for many years. Many of my students have continued their music education as Music Education majors. I teach all ages and all levels. Beginners through advanced (college preparation.) My students participate in many piano activities in our Rochester NY area. I am a member of the Rochester Piano Teachers Guild, Fairport Piano Teachers, NFMC, MTNA, NGPT. I do adjudication for the NGPT piano auditions , and also for NFMC Festivals. I have a BS degree in Music Education from the Crane School of music at Potsdam University of New York. II have had many students win the coveted Howard Hanson Award for High School senior advanced pianists. This award is offered to qualified pianists in the Rochester NY area.
My Musical Education Background
I have my BS degree in Music Education from Potsdam State University of New York. I have continued my education with yearly Pedagogy workshops both locally at Nazareth College, and Eastman School of Music. I attended 3 international Piano Workshops in Stavanger Norway, Graz Austria, and Brisbane Australia.
Genres and Subjects Taught
I am primarily a Classical Pianist and Teacher, but in recent years I have branched out into Jazz and Pop music as the demand for such has evolved-- I enjoy working with many different musical interests. I help students work with chords and lead lines. I also believe that theory education is very important.
Lesson Rates
My lessons are 45 minutes long . I will do 30 minutes for 5 and 6 year old students if absolutely necessary. All others must do at least 45 minutes or more. My rates are $23 for the 30 minutes. $31 for the 45 minutes
Ages / Skill Levels Taught
My youngest student is 6 years old right now. I will work with 5 year old if the parent is willing and able to attend lessons and practice with their child. Currently,my oldest studentis 78. I teach beginners through Advanced
My Certifications and Awards
I am State and Nationally permanently certified with MTNA . I am also certified with NGPT.
My Musical Influences
I have had extensive work with church choirs . I currently am singing in my church choir, I am available as a substitute pianist and choir director.
