About Me

Hi! My name is Prince Byrd. (Yes, that is my real name. It's on my birth certificate and everything! :D). i am 32 years old, and have been playing piano since I was 11. I have been teaching private lessons for 12 years and have been the music teacher at an elementary school in Clay county for over 7 years. I feel very blessed to be able to foster the love and appreciation for music in our children. Music and teaching are very deep passions of mine. Music has the power to move people in ways that no other force on Earth can and I love being able to witness the effect it has on people every day in my career. I also love being to teach people how to connect with music in ways they never have before by opening their eyes to the inner workings of music and showing them how to unlock their own inner talents. In addition to music, I'm a big football fan, (hope no one is offended, but GO NOLES! :D) and avid movie goer. I enjoy movies of all kinds, but am partial to sci-fi, super hero and animated films. I'm a Star Wars geek, Batman is my favorite super hero, and if Pixar made it, I've probably seen it 100 times. I also enjoy video games quite a bit, though I don't get to play as often as I'd like. All of this may seem juvenile, but they are the reason I'm able to connect with kids and adults of all ages, and in turn connect them to the mystical world of music!

My Musical Education Background

I majored in piano and graduated from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts in 2000..

I specialize in Classical Piano and Contemporary Pop music.

Lesson Rates

My rate is $85/month. Lessons are done once a week. Each lesson lasts from 30 - 60mins, depending on various factors involving the individual students personality and practice habits.

I teach beginning to intermediate students of all ages!

My Musical Influences

As a musician, performer and composer I have been influenced by many artists; each for different reasons. These influences include, but are not limited to: J.S. Bach, Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, Liszt, Prokofiev, John Williams Danny Elfman and contemporary pop artists like Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Nelly Furtado, Katy Perry, Prince and many others.
