About Me

Hello,

My name is Mate Solticzky. I have been teahcing children for 15 years. I am punctual, calm, and patient. I like having a kind of a friend-friend relationship between the students and me, instead of a usual teacher-student relationship. Music is a game, and the instument is the tool, therefore we play the music, instead of making the music.

My Musical Education Background

I sterted music when I was 5. I when to Conservatory, then College, and I also get a degree from a University as a teacher.

My first band was founded during my conservatory years and we were perfoming all over Europe. Gemany, Switzerland, Slovakia, France, Italy, Serbia, Chech Republic, Austria, and Hungary.

I moved to New York a few years ago, and currently I am a pianist at the harlem Behtel Gospel Assembly

Genres and Subjects Taught

First of all I dont believe in genres in music. I believe in artists, and their styles. If we take a look at the musical material of Bach, we will find the same elements then in jazz. Only the style is the difference and the dialect. I would say, in Italy people probably talking about the same things then in America, same everyday problems, but the dialect is different. Therefore I teach music. I teach the basic elements of music, I focus on the most principals that connects musical notes to each other. I teach techniccal skills, playing methods, score reading writing, and theory. I usually deal with beginners, I am trying to give them a strong basic so they can build a beutiful castle onto it later on.

Lesson Rates

Lessons are  30-60 min long depends on the students ages, or their availability. The general price is $40 for 60 min. But it can change because of distance I need to take.

I like to deal with beginners, or a little more advanced students. Adults or children it does not matter

My Certifications and Awards

I have my certifications from Europe, Hungary. I have a jazz-piano performer degree from conservatory, a Choir Leading, Composer degree from College, and a pedagogy/ Music Teacher degree form the University

I never went to any competitions, after all, I dont know why.
