Mrs. Heydenburg is an excellent piano teacher. Her years of experience and skill level as a musician make learning from her a joy. Throughout her lessons, she finds ways not only to teach a student piano, but also to teach them bits of music history, bits of music theory, and generally how to be a better musician. Her passion for music and for teaching manifests itself in the passion for music that is developed in her students. She makes sure that lessons are challenging enough to keep the students pushing their musical boundaries, but knows also how to help students overcome those boundaries. She adapts her teaching methods over the lessons to each student until she finds what works for a particular student. Mrs. Heydenburg mixes her teaching methods within the lessons as well, persisting until a particular fingering or timing or phrasing is correct then having the student play the entire piece to allow the student to see how it fits as a whole. I cannot recommend Mrs. Heydenburg enough. The year end concert by her students demonstrates that her teaching abilities range from relatively young through high school. It was a pleasure to take lessons from Mrs. Heydenburg and the lessons that she taught me are still relevant today in my continued passion for playing the piano.
